Vocational Training Assistance Scheme

The Vocational Training Assistance Scheme (VTAS), which offers a grant of up to 30% towards the cost of training, course costs and exam fees, is open to-

  • Individuals working in the private or third sector who are either defined as Isle of Man workers
  • Organisations operating within the private or third sectors, which both maintain a registered office and provide direct employment within the Isle of Man
  • Improve an individual's likelihood of gaining employment
  • Improve an individual's skills and effectiveness within the workplace
  • Benefit the employer through increased productivity
  • Benefit the employer by expanding the range of products and services offered
  • Benefit the employer by increasing revenue to the company
  • Provide skills for new and emerging sectors
  • 30% contribution towards cost of training, course costs & exam fees per application
  • Support covers a wide range of occupations including accountancy, childcare, construction engineering, ICT, catering and many more
  • Includes the Merchant Navy Officer Cadet Scheme which supports the costs of trainee cadets and officers educational development 

Please note. grants cannot be claimed against training that has already commenced. Individual applicants will be limited to a maximum of £1,500 in offers during any 12 month period. Employers will be limited to a maximum of £15,000 in offers during any 12 month period.
