Business Isle of Man launches enhanced Winter Event Scheme

07 October 2025

Business Isle of Man has announced the return of the Winter Event Scheme, providing funding for events across the Island’s hospitality, leisure and retail venues. Launched on 1 October and running through to 31 March 2026, the Scheme has been enhanced by increased funding and an extended period of support.

Events that qualify for support can include, but are not limited to, open-mic nights, quiz nights, drama performances, craft workshops, indoor markets, and film screenings.

The Scheme provides up to 80% funding, capped at £2,000 (previously £1,500), towards eligible costs for venues to host in-house-events that drive footfall and encourage local spending over the winter months.

Applications must be submitted by the venue, and costs eligible for funding include entertainment, hire of equipment, marketing, venue preparation, and travel and accommodation for visiting acts.

Tim Johnston MHK, Minister for Enterprise, commented:

‘The Winter Event Scheme continues to be a vital support mechanism for local businesses during the quieter trading period. By increasing the maximum funding available for applicants, we’re encouraging venues to be creative and proactive in engaging their communities. Aligning with the Local Economy Strategy vision, these efforts not only stimulate demand but also contribute to the vibrancy and sustainability of our city and towns. I look forward to seeing the variety of events that businesses will bring to life this winter.’

Stephen Ball, General Manager at the Mannin Hotel, which hosted a series of tribute nights using support from the Winter Event Scheme, commented:

‘The Mannin Hotel gratefully received the grant from the Government last winter which enabled us to very successfully host our tribute nights within the hotel. The funding assisted with the logistics of bringing acts and equipment over from the UK, which was crucial to delivering the events to a high standard. As a result, we were able to host more events than we could have managed independently. The events were overwhelmingly well received and we look forward to any further Government initiatives that will allow us to continue offering these experiences in the future.’
