Isle of Man welcomed an additional two cruise ships this week, boosting the local visitor economy

The Isle of Man welcomed two unscheduled cruise ships this week, as weather-related changes to itineraries brought additional visitors to Manx shores.
Among the vessels was Ambition, operated by Ambassador Cruise Line, which made her maiden call to the Isle of Man. The second vessel Silver Wind, operated by Silversea Cruise Line, also arrived as a result of itinerary changes, with both vessels carrying 246 and 1,104 passengers respectively. Passengers disembarking during these visits were able to enjoy a taste of the Island’s vibrant and welcoming tourism, retail and hospitality scene, contributing to the local visitor economy.
Sarah Maltby MHK, Political Member with responsibility for Tourism, Motorsport and Heritage, added:
‘We were delighted to welcome both ships to the Isle of Man, and it was a great honour to be invited on board Ambition to extend a warm Manx welcome on her maiden call. These unscheduled visits highlight the Island’s growing reputation as a flexible and appealing destination in the Irish Sea, underpinned by strong infrastructure and stakeholder collaboration. Opportunities such as these allow us to build valuable relationships with cruise operators, showcase the Isle of Man’s offering first-hand, and reaffirm our commitment to supporting and growing the visitor economy.’
The Isle of Man is currently scheduled to welcome a total of 54 cruise ships throughout the 2025 season, running from April to October. However, as with all cruise destinations, itineraries remain subject to change due to operational and weather-related considerations.
