DEPARTMENT FOR ENTERPRISE POLITICAL MEMBERS

The Department has a key role to play in the achievement of the Programme for Government's stated intention to be an Island of Enterprise and Opportunity and we recognise that supporting economic development is of strategic importance for the Island's future growth and prosperity.

The Department's mission is aligned with these outcomes and objectives: to create an environment, through innovation and collaboration, where the economy thrives.

The Department is overseen by the Minister for Enterprise, alongside four additional political members who sit on the boards of the Department's Executive Agencies.

Howard Quayle MHK

Chief Minister & Minister for Enterprise

 

Hon. Howard Quayle CBE, Member of the House of Keys (MHK) for Middle, was elected Chief Minister by Tynwald on 4 October 2016.

Before his election to the role of Chief Minister he was Minister for Health and Social Care.

He has also served as Chairman of the Planning Committee, Chairman of the Manx Electricity Authority and a political member of the Department of Economic Development and Department of Infrastructure.

Mr Quayle was first elected to the House of Keys in 2011.

Daphne Caine MHK

Political Member for Digital Isle of Man & Locate Isle of Man

 

Daphne Caine was elected to the House of Keys as a Member for Garff following the 2016 General Election and was appointed as a Member of the Department for Enterprise in October 2016 with responsibilities for E-Business, Creative Industries and the BioMedical Sector.

Mrs Caine is married with two children and has previously worked at Isle of Man Newspapers (1989-1996) and also within the Isle of Man Civil Service (1996-2016). Her interests are theatre, travel, Manx history and heritage, reading and current affairs.

Rob Callister MHK

Political Member for Visit Isle of Man

 

Mr Callister was appointed as a member of the Department for Environment, Food and Agriculture in June 2020. Mr Callister is also a member for the Department for Enterprise and Trustee on the Board of Manx National Heritage. Mr Callister also joined the Department of Infrastructure in July 2020, assuming responsibility for Ports.

Formerly having worked within the Island's finance industry for over 17 years, Mr Callister also served on Onchan District Commissioners, prior to being elected as a Member of the House of Keys for Onchan in 2016.

Peter Greenhill MHK

Political Member for Finance Isle of Man

 

Mr Greenhill is a member of the Department for Enterprise and is responsible for Finance Isle of Man and the Department's Properties.

Mr Greenhill has over 40 years of international business experience as a director, managing director and CEO in international banking, eBusiness, manufacturing, technology, national lotteries and eGaming. Most recently he has acted as a non-executive director, consultant and mentor to growing and new companies.

His interests include football refereeing, sport, the theatre, the arts, antiques and travel.

Lawrie Hooper MHK

Political Member for Business Isle of Man & Enterprise Support

 

Lawrie Hooper was elected to the House of Keys for Ramsey following the 2016 General Election and is a Member of the Cabinet Office and the Department for Enterprise, with responsibility for Business Isle of Man and Enterprise Support.

Mr Hooper attended Ramsey Grammar School, and is trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant.
