Registrations Open for 2022 TT Homestay

Isle of Man firm MiQuando, who operates the official Isle of Man Homestay Scheme on behalf of the Department for Enterprise, is welcoming applications from Island residents looking to register their properties for TT 2022 and beyond.

The Homestay Scheme provides an opportunity for households to host paying visitors for the TT festival. During the TT period ‘Homestay Hosts’ can earn up to £1,800 tax free income and will have access to the Department’s Public Liability insurance. Households who do not register will not have access to the tax-free limit nor the insurance.

‘It’s fantastic news to hear that the TT is returning next year along with new elements that are set to revolutionise the experience for visiting fans and those following from around the world. With 2022 expected to be a very busy and successful year for the Island’s iconic motorsport event, the need for good quality, alternative accommodation during this peak period is going to be vital if we are to continue to attract more visitors to the races.

‘This last year has undoubtedly been one of the most difficult for everyone in the Travel and Tourism sector with ongoing border closures and the cancellation of key island events. However, the return of the TT next year will be extremely welcome news to our sector who benefit greatly from the volume of visitors it helps draw to our Island.’

Any household looking to offer Homestay during the period must be registered. Registration is quick and easy, with fees of £60.00 for a new one-year registration or £80.00 for two years. The fee includes an inspection visit (for new registrations), plus marketing on the official Homestay website www.iomhomestay.com and social media pages. In addition, registered hosts will have access to the Department’s Public Liability Insurance.

The Department wishes to remind all Island homeowners that it is illegal to provide accommodation to paying guests, unless you are registered with Visit Isle of Man or registered on the Homestay Scheme (only valid for TT, Manx Grand Prix and Classic TT).
