Autumn Events with Manx National Heritage

Manx National Heritage, the charity responsible for the care and promotion of the Island's natural and cultural heritage, has put together a packed programme of events and activities to enjoy at the Isle of Man's heritage sites this autumn.

A range of guided tours, family activities, workshops and trails are on offer to make the most of autumn on the Isle of Man.

The ever popular Heritage Open Days get October off to a flying start with many of the walks and tours already fully booked. From 9th October families are invited to find "Wally" in a fun "Where's Wally Spooky Museum Search" at the Manx Museum.

Other activities include cross stitch, macrame, embroidery, decoupage and bunting workshops at Cregneash and a willow workshop at Rushen Abbey. Workshops are on between 7th and 21st October.

Weekly tours of Castletown, The Peggy and Cregneash have also been extended into October.

In a break from tradition, the annual Cregneash, "Turn up for Turnips" event this year goes on tour around the heritage sites across the Island.

Julia Cullen, Public Engagement Manager for Manx National Heritage, said:

'This year, families can join in the traditional Hop Tu Naa celebrations by collecting a special 'Hop Tu Naa Kit' from one of four locations across the Island. The Hop Tu Naa Kit includes a turnip to carve, a Jinny the Witch activity and a Hop Tu Naa booklet.'

Hop Tu Naa kits can be pre-ordered from the Manx National Heritage website and are available to collect from The Grove Museum in Ramsey on 24th & 25th October, the Manx Museum in Douglas on 26th & 27th October, the House of Manannan in Peel on 28th & 29th October and Rushen Abbey in Ballasalla on 30th & 31st October.

For those who enjoy a creepy, spine-tingling experience, 'Tales from the Crypt' at Peel Castle is on Saturday 31st October, with spooky tales of a witch, a giant and the infamous Moddey Dhoo!
